The BESS Battery Project in Cranbourne West is a landmark development in Australia’s transition to renewable energy infrastructure. This project represents a major milestone in energy resilience and future-focused industrial development.

With a significant battery storage capacity, the facility was officially launched at the end of last year during a high-profile event attended by key stakeholders, including the Mayor of the City of Casey. This marked a major achievement not only for the energy sector but also for the broader Cranbourne West precinct.

KLM has been closely involved in the delivery of this project, with our Town Planning team leading key aspects of the planning and coordination. The site has recently secured Terramata approval, and Town Planning permits have been approved for the southern warehouse component. Applications are currently underway for the northern warehouse, located just off Evans Road.

Once fully built out, the estate will feature up to 60,000–70,000 sqm of high-spec industrial warehousing, with around 40,000 sqm already approved. These facilities will support essential logistics and operations surrounding the battery and future developments in the area.

This is a significant and strategic infrastructure project, one that reflects KLM’s growing role in shaping renewable-ready, large-format industrial estates that are critical to Victoria’s economic and environmental future.
